Satirical comic cards about the quiet biases that decide who gets heard at work. Most cards show the same situation two ways, once when the bias takes over and once without it, then close with a real-world note and its research source.

  • Two colleagues look at an "Unverified Tale" that 1890s New York would be buried in ten feet of manure. In an imagined meeting, an official proposes "More horses to haul away the manure!" while a horse thinks "I'm being promoted to part of the problem." Then streetcars and sanitation crews appear: "New tools and public action changed the system."

  • A manager holds a plugged-in cloud: "I thought 'the cloud' ran on metaphors." An engineer replies "Mostly electricity," then shows data-center use of 485 TWh in 2025 and a projected 950 TWh in 2030: "The forecast is conditional." At a public meeting a resident asks who pays for grid upgrades: "That belongs in the plan, not the fine print."

  • A manager eyes "Panic" and "Magic" buttons: "Can we just press the optimism button?" An engineer holding an engineering toolbox answers "It appears to require a work order." Colleagues outline efficient compute, flexible jobs and grid plus supply, and the team ends with an approved budget: "So hope has a budget and milestones?"
